UPDATE Nov. 7, 2015 - The nuclear contamination found at Spectrulite's Madison plant in 1989 was not considered a serious problem until 10 years later, when employess began getting sick. After 2000, a cleanup was performed, the plant was acquired by Magnesium Elektron, and a small part of the plant (not the most contaminated area) continues production today. The situation seems to show incredibly poor judgement on the part of Dow Chemical, Spectrulite, and the US Government.
I found a few relevant documents online. Download the PDFs HERE and HERE.
